2024 November
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/1/2024
God of love and God of
mercy,
Shower the world with
your grace,
Like the rain that falls
from heaven,
Refreshes the driest
place.
We are thankful that on
our souls,
Sin and disgrace you
erase.
Sin and disgrace you
erase.
As we go to spread the Good
News,
To people who have not
heard.
Give us hearts of great
compassion.
May we be righteously
stirred.
Help us to be truly
faithful,
As we share your holy
word.
As we share your holy
word.
We've been blessed by
your salvation,
And given new life in
Christ.
That we might live for
you always,
For this Christ was
sacrificed.
Help us love as we have
been loved,
In the name of Jesus
Christ.
In the name of Jesus
Christ.
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/2/2024
(Tune:
The Itsy-Bitsy Spider)
Moses
went out climbing,
Up
to the mountain top.
Till
he met with the Lord,
Moses
couldn't stop.
God
made two tablets,
Out
of stone because,
The
people were to follow,
The
ten God-given laws.
Moses
then came back down,
With
the laws in his hand,
To
teach the people how to,
Live
in the promised land.
In These Times
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/3/2024
In these times when
things are changing,
O Lord, you remain the
same.
You have always led
believers.
This is the faith that we
claim.
Guide us, Lord, now as
your people.
This we pray, in Jesus’ name.
This we pray, in Jesus’ name.
As we Live Today in your
world,
We are your church, your
hands and feet.
We are called to love our
neighbors.
Help us help each one we
meet.
In the midst of the
world's problems,
May our mission be
complete.
May our mission be
complete.
Jesus Noticed the Widow’s Mite
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/4/2024
Jesus noticed the widow’s mite,
As she gave God all that she might.
Others gave bags with huge amounts,
She gave her all by all accounts.
This woman gave God everything.
Of her great faith we come to sing.
Jesus taught his followers to,
Give of themselves in all they do.
In Jesus’ name give it your all,
Size doesn't matter, large or small.
What matters is your attitude,
Humbly give all with gratitude.
In The Midst of Life’s Toil and
Grief
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/5/2024
In
the midst of life's toil and grief,
Grant
us, O Lord, divine relief.
From
all our pains, our souls release,
And
give us everlasting peace.
Down
through the ages there have been,
Struggles
without as well as within.
You
have been there for those who see.
Thy
will be done, Lord, let it be.
From
all we've learned from days gone by,
“Guide
us today.” To you we cry.
Help
us to fully live today,
That
tomorrow's a better day.
Hear Me, O Lord, as I Cry unto You
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/6/2024
Hear me, O Lord, as I cry
unto you,
For I am wandering and
lost.
Guide me in all that I
might do,
No matter what may be the
cost.
Help me, O Lord, to find
my way,
That your commands I may
fulfill.
Set me upon your path
today,
To follow you and do your
will.
Hold me, O Lord, close to
your breast,
Strengthen me with your
warm embrace.
Help me always to do my
best,
With every challenge that
I face.
Hand me, O Lord, to you I
plead,
Something that's more
than I can do.
You've given me all that
I need,
As long as I rely on you.
My Country Through the Years
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/7/2024
My country through the
years,
We've shared our joys and
tears,
Pride, and distrust.
We've had good times and
bad,
Times both happy and sad,
But still, we are united.
In God we trust.
My country still today,
For liberty we pray,
May all be just.
For those who’re poor and
weak,
And humble, mild, and
meek,
Getting by week to week.
In God we trust.
God, we cry out to you,
Guide us in all we do,
Because we must.
When things are not
alright,
Guide us by your sure
light,
Help us make all things
right.
In God we trust.
Once Ten Men Asked for Help from Jesus
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/7/2024
(Tune: Baa, Baa, Black
Sheep)
Once ten men asked for
help from Jesus,
“Dear sir, dear sir,
please help us.
Our bodies are all
covered in sores,
But we believe you have
power that restores.”
Once ten men asked for
help from Jesus,
“Dear sir, Dear sir,
please help us.”
Jesus told them what they
had to do,
So, they'd be healed
through and through.
They were to go and they
would be called clean,
If the priests said the
sores were no longer seen.
Jesus told them what they
had to do,
And they were healed
through and through.
Only one came back to
thank Jesus.
What about the rest of
us?
We are forgetful. We just
forget.
Let us remember so
there’ll be no regret.
From this story every one
of us,
Can come now and thank
Jesus.
Once ten men asked for
help from Jesus,
“Dear sir, dear sir,
please help us.
Their bodies were all diseased
and sore,
But Jesus had power to
heal and restore.”
Once ten men asked for
help from Jesus,
“Dear sir, dear sir,
please help us.”
This Is the Day the Lord Has Made
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/9/2024
This is the day the Lord
has made.
Let us rejoice and be
glad in it.
Follow the path that God
has laid,
Each and every hour and
minute.
We have been called to
follow Christ,
And share Good News by
word and deed.
For this Jesus was
sacrificed,
To show God's love with
those in need.
For us to live, this is
the day,
Let us go live it
faithfully,
That we might do
something today,
That God is glorified,
truly.
As We Face Yet Another Day
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/11/2024
As we face yet another
day,
The end is coming soon.
What all needs to be done
today,
Morning and afternoon?
We strive each day to
live fully,
Here and now and always.
What all might we do
faithfully,
Before the end of days?
Don't put off until
tomorrow,
What could be done today.
Just take up your cross
and follow,
Christ Jesus on the way.
Take a Good Look
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/13/2024
Take a good look, what do
you see?
Open your eyes right
where you are.
Catch a glimpse of
eternity.
A leap of faith will lead
you there.
Live out your life the
end in mind,
That the Lord's will you
will pursue.
The betterment of
humankind,
Should be the goal of all
you do.
Do You Worry of What’s Not There
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/18/2024
Do you worry of what's
not there?
If your glass is half
full?
Believe that God with you
will share.
Don't worry, be thankful.
Don't focus on the empty
half,
Don't be just thank-half-full.
Face your fears with a
holy laugh.
Don't worry, be thankful.
For what we have thank
God, indeed,
Thank God it is half
full.
Half’s what we have,
half’s all we need.
Don't worry, be thankful.
Thank God from whom all
blessings flow,
That the glass is half
full.
It gives us space for
faith to grow.
Don't worry, be thankful.
Remember You Are Dust
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/13/2024
Remember you are dust,
To dust you shall return.
Reflect and ponder just,
What from this you might
learn?
This might be your last
day.
Your life is not done
yet.
What might you do today,
That you will not regret?
For the Lord fully live.
Give to the Lord you're
all,
And this day truly give,
With all your
wherewithal.
We Celebrate the Lord Above
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/15/2024
We celebrate the Lord
above,
Who with compassion made
all things,
Who blesses us with
gracious love,
And to our souls,
salvation brings.
We dedicate our lives to
live,
Fully for God in all we
do,
And our gifts to freely
give,
That the Lord's love
comes shining through.
We worship God with all
our heart,
And all our soul, and all
our mind,
That we can daily do our
part,
To share Good News with
humankind.
Do You Worry of What’s Not There
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/18/2024
Do you worry of what's
not there?
If your glass is half
full?
Believe that God with you
will share.
Don't worry, be thankful.
Don't focus on the empty
half,
Don't be just thank-half-full.
Face your fears with a
holy laugh.
Don't worry, be thankful.
For what we have thank
God, indeed,
Thank God it is half
full.
Half’s what we have,
half’s all we need.
Don't worry, be thankful.
Thank God from whom all

That the glass is half
full.
It gives us space for
faith to grow.
Don't worry, be thankful.
We Come before the Lord in Prayer
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/19/2024
We come before the Lord
in prayer,
Offering thanks and
praise.
From deep within our
hearts we share,
And our confessions
raise.
God's grace and mercy we
receive.
By the Lord we are
blessed.
At the altar our sins we
leave,
That we might do our
best.
As we're forgiven, we
forgive,
Answering the Lord's
call.
Faithfully day by day we
live,
Sharing God's love with
all.
Come Before God with Thanksgiving
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/19/2024
Come before God with thanksgiving,
A blessed life you are
living.
Recall each blessing one
by one.
Give thanks for all the
Lord has done.
Come before the Lord God
and pray.
Say to God what you need
to say.
Recall each blessing one
by one.
Give thanks for all the
Lord has done.
Come before God your
faith proclaim.
Offer your prayers in
Jesus’ name.
Recall each blessing one
by one.
Give thanks for all the
Lord has done.
Come before the Lord God each
day.
With grateful hearts to
the Lord pray.
Recall each blessing one
by one.
Give thanks for all the
Lord has done.
Come before God with
thanks and praise,
For the Lord is with you
always.
Recall each blessing one
by one.
Give thanks for all the
Lord has done.
This Is the Day
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/20/2024
This is the day the Lord
has made,
let us this day rejoice.
Everywhere God's touch is
displayed,
so, to God raise your
voice.
Give thanks to God who
made this day.
Give thanks in word and
deed.
Come before God and this
day pray,
that you might fill a
need.
With every wonder that
you see,
give to God thanks and
praise.
Do things that give God
the glory,
as you follow God's ways.
There is a wonder yet
undone,
something that you can
do.
A prayer is lifted by
someone,
and God's answer is you.
Come Now before the Lord in Prayer
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/21/2024
Now before the Lord in
prayer.
Share what is on your
heart.
May you find heavenly
peace right there,
As you share every part.
What might we learn in
these times of prayer,
As with God we share all?
Be open with God as you
share.
Tear down facade and wall.
God knows what all you
need to pray,
And your reluctance too.
Acknowledge fully all you
say.
Confess all you need to.
Allow the time when
you're in prayer,
Allow God time to talk,
And on your soul
forgiveness share.
Your shackles will unlock.
Mary, the Angel Said, Don’t Be
Afraid
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/21/2024
(Tune:
The Wheels on the Bus)
“Mary,” the angel said, “Don’t
be afraid.”
Don’t be afraid. Don’t be
afraid.
“Mary,” the angel said, “Don’t
be afraid.”
That wondrous night.
Mary asked the angel,
“How can this be?”
How can this be? How can
this be?
Mary asked the angel,
“How can this be?”
That wondrous night.
“Mary,” the angel said, “God
loves you!”
God loves you! God loves
you!
“Mary,” the angel said, “God
loves you!”
That wondrous night.
Mary told the angel, “Let
it be so.”
Let it be so. Let it be
so.
Mary told the angel, “Let
it be so.”
That wondrous night.
Thank You, God, for All You Have Done
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/26/2024
Thank you, God, for all
you have done.
Thank you, God, for all
you do.
Thank you, God, for what
yet it's undone.
Thank you for all you'll
do too.
Thank you, God, for we
have been blessed.
We come now to you and
pray.
This day you've given for
our rest.
We thank you for this
day.
God, We Come before You in Prayer
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/27/2024
God, we come before you
in prayer,
With words of thanksgiving.
When we reflect, you're
always there,
In this life we are
living.
God, you are with us
everywhere.
Your spirit is with us.
To you, O God, we lift
our prayer,
In the name of Jesus.
God, even in the worst of
times,
We know we're not alone.
When there are no reasons
or rhymes,
In you we know we’re
known.
With Great Thanksgiving
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/28/2024
With great Thanksgiving
we sing to the Lord.
We praise almighty God
with one accord.
Lifting our adoration and
praise,
To God we give our thanks
throughout our days.
God who created the whole
universe,
Created each one of us
who sing this verse.
We are simply the Lord's
hands and feet.
Let us share God's love
with each one we meet.
God, you are involved in
all that we do.
May our actions show thanksgiving
to you.
In words and deeds, Lord,
to you we pray.
May you be blessed by
what we do and say.
We’re on a Journey
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/29/2024
We're on a journey
following the star.
Seeking a new king we
will travel far.
No matter the distance or
time that it takes,
We will still follow no
difference it makes.
Many lead lives wandering
aimlessly.
Focused on Christ, we
live differently.
Life is a journey set
before us,
Searching and seeking to
follow Jesus.
In ancient times, wise
men followed a star,
To the Holy Land they
came from afar.
With help from scholars,
they found Bethlehem.
They came to the Christ
child who came for them.
We read the scriptures,
reflect on the word,
Taking in also what we've
seen and heard.
Using the grey matter
that's between our ears,
We have thus gained
wisdom throughout the years.
With Hearts that Are Grateful
Jeffrey B. Childs 11/30/2024
With hearts that are
grateful we give thanks and praise.
For all that God's done
we worship always.
God has been with us
throughout thick and thin.
We worship the Lord, day
out and day in.
Throughout all history
God’s been with us.
And at the right time God
sent us Jesus.
To walk with us and show
us the way.
Lord, help us now walk
that way, day by day.
