Holy God, Speak to Us
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/1/2025
(Tune: Festal Song UMH 576)
Holy God, speak to us,
Through the words of
Jesus.
We will do as you tell us
to,
Do what Jesus would do.
Holy God, hear our
prayer,
Our petitions we share.
Be with us and those we
pray for,
Now and forever more.
Holy God, guide us
through,
Each day we follow you.
Reveal the way that we
should go,
For we know that you
know.
Let Us Break Bread
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/3/2025
(Tune: Let Us Break Bread UMH 618)
Let us break bread
together in this place.
Let us break bread
together in this place.
When we're here in this
place,
May your love shine on
each face.
O Lord, show mercy and
grace.
Let us drink wine
together in this place.
Let us drink wine
together in this place.
When we're here in this
place,
May your love shine on
each face.
O Lord, show mercy and
grace.
Let us serve one another
in this place.
Let us serve one another
in this place.
When we're here in this
place,
May your love shine on
each face.
O Lord, show mercy and
grace.
Do You Know the Lord Jesus
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/3/2025
(Tune: Do You Know the Muffin Man)
Do you know the Lord
Jesus?
The Lord Jesus, the Lord
Jesus.
Do you know the Lord
Jesus?
Whom God sent us in love.
Do you pray in Jesus’ name?
In Jesus’ name, in Jesus’
name.
Do you pray in Jesus’ name?
Pray in Jesus’ name.
Do you share the love of
God?
The love of God, the love
of God.
Do you share the love of
God?
Share the love of God.
The Stone Is Rolled Away
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/4/2025
(Tune: Festal Song UMH 576)
The stone is rolled away.
Christ's body is not
there.
We celebrate Easter
today,
Both here and everywhere.
Mary went to the tomb,
Where Jesus’ body lay.
There joy replaced the
gloom and doom,
On resurrection day.
Lift up your hearts and
sing,
Christ brings new life to
us.
Salvation for us Christ
did bring.
Praise the name of Jesus.
At the End of Each Day
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/6/2025
(Tune: Festal Song UMH 576)
At the end of each day,
With God take time to
pray.
For everything both said
and done,
Thank the Lord for every
one.
Before you go to bed,
And pillow meets your
head,
Take some time to reflect
with God,
Before to sleep you nod.
My God, My God, Jesus Cried
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/7/2025
(Tune: Germany UMH 427)
“My God, my God,” Jesus
cried,
Before upon the cross he
died.
Upon his lips a profound
word,
From the psalmist was
clearly heard.
Did Jesus think God was
not there,
That the God of love did
not care?
To think Jesus felt
forsaken,
Our faith in God might be
shaken.
A deeper meaning may be
found,
A hopeful message most
profound.
Reading to the end of
this Psalm,
Uplifts the soul with
peace and calm.
This Is the Way
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/8/2025
(Tune: The Mulberry Bush)
This is the way we
worship God,
Worship God, worship God.
This is the way we
worship God,
Every Sunday morning.
We share with God all of
our prayers,
All of our prayers, all
of our prayers,
We share with God all of
our prayers,
Every Sunday morning.
We sing to God our songs
of praise,
Our songs of praise, our
songs of praise.
We sing to God our songs
of praise,
Every Sunday morning.
We listen to the word of
God,
The word of God, the word
of God.
We listen to the word of
God,
Every Sunday morning.
We give to God our
offering,
Our offering, our
offering.
We give to God our
offering,
Every Sunday morning.
Then we go out to serve
the Lord,
To serve the Lord, to
serve the Lord.
Then we go out to serve
the Lord,
Every Sunday morning.
We Sing Our Praise to God
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/9/2025
(Tune: The Farmer in the Dell)
We sing our praise to God.
We sing our praise to God.
For all that God has done,
We sing our praise to God.
We say our prayers to
God.
We say our prayers to
God.
In Jesus’ precious name,
We say our prayers to
God.
In Jesus we believe.
In Jesus we believe.
We share Good News
because,
In Jesus we believe.
God of Love and God of Mercy
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/10/2025
(Tune: CWM Rhondda UMH 577)
God of love and God of
mercy,
Forgive us thy holy
grace.
That we might go share
your story,
When we go forth from
this place.
That we might enter your
glory,
When we meet you face to
face.
When we meet you face to
face.
Moses Went up on the Mountain
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/12/2025
(Tune: The Bear Went over the Mountain)
Moses went up on the mountain.
Moses went up on the mountain.
Moses went up on the mountain,
To get a word from God.
To get a word from God.
To get a word from God.
Moses went up on the mountain,
To get a word from God.
Moses came down from the mountain,
With commandments in hand.
Let us climb up on the mountain,
To see what we may see.
When we come down from the mountain,
We’ll be what we will be.
Jesus Rose on Easter Morn
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/14/2025
(Tune: Unser Herrscher UMH 578)
Jesus rose on Easter
morn,
That we all might be
reborn.
Christ forgives, let us
forgive.
As Christ lives, let us
now live.
Refrain:
Jesus rose on Easter
morn,
That we all might be
reborn.
No longer bound in a
tomb,
Christ overcomes death
and gloom.
Christ gives us new life
this day.
Live life fully every
day.
Refrain:
Mercy reigns on us from
heaven.
All our sins have been
forgiven.
Christ has overcome the
worst.
That the last become the first.
Refrain:
This Faith in Christ I Know
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/14/2025
(Tune: Lattimer UMH 585)
This faith in Christ, I
know,
I'm goin’ a let it grow,
Let it grow, let it grow,
let it grow.
Down here on earth below,
I'm goin’ a let it grow,
Let it grow, let it grow,
let it grow.
The love of Christ I
show,
I'm goin’ a let it grow,
Let it grow, let it grow,
let it grow.
We Celebrate This Day of Days
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/16/2025
(Tune: Dove of Peace UMH 617)
We celebrate this day of
days.
From sin we are set free.
To Christ Jesus we give
our praise,
For all eternity,
For all eternity.
Up from the grave the
Lord did rise,
On that first Easter day.
As light awakens the dark
skies,
“Hallelujah,” we say.
“Hallelujah,” we say.
This is the day the Lord
has made.
Christ has made all
things new.
Of death, we are no more
afraid,
For Christ will see us
through,
For Christ will see us
through.
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/17/2025
(Tune: Dove
of Peace UMH 617)
We celebrate on Easter
day,
That Christ rose from the
dead.
Let everyone now praise
the Lord,
For all he did and said,
For all he did and said.
We celebrate the things
he said,
Some at first did seem
strange.
Teachings and parables
revealed,
That in Christ all would
change,
That in Christ all would
change.
We celebrate the things
he did,
The people fed and
healed.
His power over life and death,
On Easter he revealed,
On Easter he revealed.
On That Friday
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/18/2025
(Tune: Dove of Peace UMH 617)
On that Friday the sky
turned grey,
Clouds blocked out the
sunshine.
Upon the cross all seemed
like loss.
We felt death on the vine.
We felt death on the vine.
As we watched Christ
suffer and die,
And heard the words he
said,
From the sheer nightmare
we were grieved,
As from his wounds he
bled.
As from his wounds he
bled.
When it was done and
Christ died,
Nothing could heal such
grief.
Hope was gone what will
we do now,
This seemed beyond
belief.
This seemed beyond belief.
There Are Times
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/19/2025
(Tune: Dove of Peace UMH 617)
There are times when we
just must wait,
When time needs to stand
still.
For those things we
anticipate,
Only time can fulfill.
Only time can fulfill.
There are times between
other times,
The ordinary days.
Those days without
reasons or rhymes,
We wait, as out all plays.
We wait, as out all plays.
There are times whether
short or long,
We wait upon the Lord.
And serve the Lord till
comes along,
The time to get on board.
The time to get on board.
There are times when we
think we're done,
With all of this waiting.
But wait! And look! Here
comes the one,
Who comes, new life to
bring.
Who comes, new life to
bring.
Like Thomas We All Have Our Doubts
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/24/2025
(Tune: Old 100th UMH 621)
Like Thomas we all have
our doubts,
With fits and starts and
cries and shouts.
Faith in Christ our worst
fears relieve,
Doubts turn around when
we believe.
When there are things we
cannot see,
We doubt and think, this
cannot be.
Were stuck in doubt and
can’t conceive,
How life can change when
we believe.
As you share faith with
those who doubt,
And profess what faith’s
all about,
Through you what might
the Lord achieve,
As you help doubters to
believe?
We Come before the Lord in Prayer
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/25/2025
(Tune: Old 100th UMH 621)
We come before the Lord
in prayer,
All our joys and concerns
we share.
We praise the Lord who
hears each one,
In this holy
conversation.
But wait! Don't just
finish the call,
Prayers aren't one sided,
not at all.
Take the time to let the
Lord speak.
God answers prayers to
those who seek.
Ask what the Lord might
have to say,
About how you should live
this day,
And for the Lord what you
can do,
To help answer a prayer
or two.
Praise God Who Has Revealed to Us
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/27/2025
(Tune: Old 100th UMH 621)
Praise God who has
revealed to us,
True light and life
through Christ Jesus.
He is the vine. He is the
way.
In him we’re connected
today.
So, even though through
sin we're flawed,
Through Christ we're
forgiven by God.
To God with penitence
confess,
Then worship God and
Christ profess.
For by God, we have all
been blessed,
With Sabbath days to take
our rest.
To reflect on what life's
about.
Give to God praise and a
shout out!
When Peter Saw Christ on the Shore
Jeffrey B. Childs 4/29/2025
(Tune: Old 100th UMH 621)
When Peter saw Christ on
the shore,
It changed his life
forevermore.
Jesus simply said,
“Follow me.”
Peter became who he would
be.
A disciple who walked the
walk,
Learned from Jesus in
every talk.
But when the Lord was
crucified,
Three times Peter his
Lord denied.
But this time there upon
the shore,
Jesus appeared to him
once more.
And when Peter his love
professed,
By Christ’s mercy Peter
was blessed.
The Lord told him to
“Feed my sheep.”
A commandment for all to
keep.
So, what’s Jesus saying
to us,
About how we might love
Jesus?
