I Open up the Sacred Book

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/1/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

I open up the sacred book,

And read the ancient text.

I ponder with a deeper look,

As I contemplate what's next?

How does this scripture speak to me?

What does it really say?

Engaging with the text fully,

What might I do today?

When an insight, I realize,

Resonates in my heart,

And the text I internalize,

I can then go do my part.

Blessed Monday to You

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/1/2025

(Tune: Happy Birthday to You)

Blessed Monday to you.

Blessed Monday to you.

Blessed Monday, God loves you!

Blessed Monday to you.

(Any day of the week can be sung.)

We Rise a New Day to Begin

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/3/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

We rise on new day to begin,

To God our prayers we lift,

Our sins confessed are forgiven,

The Lord's mercy is a gift.

We are set free to face the day,

And pray God's will be done.

By what we do and what we say,

May we truly help someone.

In this day that the Lord has made,

And given now to us,

May God's love through us be displayed,

In the name of Jesus.

We Praise God of All Creation

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/4/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

We praise God of all creation,

For this another day.

We rise with anticipation,

Glory to the Lord, we pray.

Throughout the day we sing God's praise,

For each blessing given.

We are blessed in so many ways,

It's like a foretaste of heaven.

At evening when we end the day,

Remembering all we've done,

Then for a good night's rest we pray,

So, we can rise with the sun.

In Life’s Turmoil and Wayward Ways

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/5/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

In life turmoil and wayward ways,

We think we're on our own.

In darkest nights and darkest days,

We’re never left alone.

The good news is God is with us,

Throughout the thick and thin.

God loves us so, God sent Jesus,

To help us overcome sin.

Christ offered himself on the cross,

To die to set us free.

All of our gain comes at Christ’s loss,

Christ did this for you and me.

Divine Revelation

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/8/2025

(Tune: St Michael UMH 662)

Divine revelation,

For human salvation,

Is the essence of scriptures core,

For all who will explore.

The scriptures do reveal,

Our life's quest, that's so real,

T’wards our final destination,

Through holy contemplation.

Join us in this story,

Going on to glory,

Through Christ’s reconciliation,

And sanctification.

In a World Where So Many Are Lost

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/10/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

In a world where so many are lost,

Far from where they are from.

Jesus was willing to pay the cost,

Bring the lost one home.

That lost lamb in the wilderness,

The shepherd went to find.

Who's out there now that we might bless?

May no one be left behind.

There was that coin that was misplaced,

It wasn't anywhere.

We've straightened up and steps retraced.

Oh, we have all been there.

When something's lost, look all around,

It could be anywhere.

In the last place is where it's found.

Rejoice that you went there!

Like Sheep We Have Wandered Away

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/15/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

Like sheep, we have wandered away,

Seeking a better life.

Desires have led us astray,

Into a world of strife.

Whenever we find ourselves lost,

Not knowing where to turn,

Remind us what matters the most,

To Jesus will return.

For Jesus is our guiding light,

He is with us always.

With him all will turn out all right,

We are blessed all our days.

Jesus Once Told a Parable

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/16/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

Jesus once told a parable,

To help us understand,

When a steward most terrible,

Offered a helping hand.

There were debtors with great debts,

To whom he gave relief.

Friendships were forged without regrets,

Based on his firm belief.

Making money was not his aim,

But doing something good.

What shall we do in Jesus’ name?

Forgive debtors like we should.

With Faithful Friends We Read God’s Word

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/17/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

With faithful friends we read God's word,

And share what we believe.

With various perspectives heard,

New insights we perceive.

What's written upon the pages,

In each scriptural text,

Truth revealed down through the ages,

Prepare us for what comes next.

We read where your people have been,

And then how with You they grew.

As we study we enter in,

This faithful journey with you.

In a World Filled with Hate and Greed

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/18/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

In a world filled with hate and greed,

What can a Christian do?

Just help someone who is in need.

Share the love God shares with you.

For someone you can be that friend,

Who makes a difference.

Just be there and then in the end,

You’ll have shared Jesus’ presence.

We can be Jesus’ hands and feet,

As with others we share.

Be like Jesus to all you meet.

Show them that you really care.

We Sing Our Praise

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/19/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

We sing our praise unto the Lord.

We raise our voices high.

Our hearts unite in one accord,

The Lord to glorify.

Glory to God with praise we sing.

Our hearts are so joyful,

All glory to the Lord we bring.

Our hearts are most grateful.

Out to the world we'll go from here,

Filled with the Lord's goodwill,

To bless all the world far and near,

So that God's will we fulfill.

We Celebrate All Our Birthdays

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/20/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

We celebrate all our birthdays,

As they roll by each year,

And we give thanks for all the ways,

Our loved ones hold us dear.

Reflect on how you lived last year,

Then live this new year well.

What all may happen is not clear.

We know only time will tell.

Through life's journey we're ne’er alone,

For God is with us still.

To God our future’s fully known.

Each day let us do God's will.

We Come into Christ’s Gathering

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/23/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

We come into Christ’s gathering,

Of all the faithful saints.

Altogether with joy we sing,

A glorious picture paints.

Gracious God, we give thanks to you,

For all the gifts you've given.

For life and health and blessings too,

And leading us to heaven.

When service ends, service begins.

To the world we're sent out.

To share that Jesus forgives sins,

That is what it's all about.

Daily Take Time to Give God Praise

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/24/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

Daily take time to give God praise.

Take holy time in prayer.

Especially in the hectic days,

May God's peace be with you there.

We live in a world in turmoil.

Our lives are so upset.

When all's about to over boil,

No the Lord is with us yet.

Take time with God let off your steam,

To God your stress release.

For like a gently flowing stream,

God will fill your heart with peace.

What Might the Lord Reveal to Us

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/25/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

What might the Lord reveal to us,

If we had eyes to see?

Where all might we perceive Jesus,

Out in the community?

Jesus once spoke of sheep and goats,

In our lesson he taught.

In the description Jesus notes,

Some got it, some did not.

We think that we're Christ’s hands and feet,

When we serve like Jesus.

But as we serve people in need,

They become Jesus for us.

Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Sheep Gone

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/26/2025

(Tune: Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Lamb Gone)

Oh where, oh where has my little sheep gone?

Oh where, oh where can she be?

She's not among the flock where she belongs.

Oh where, oh where can she be?

Without that sheep the flock’s not complete.

I'll search until she is found.

When we've lost someone, we are incomplete.

As family we are thus bound.

To Encourage Faith

                                  Jeffrey B. Childs 9/30/2025

(Tune: Azmon UMH 57)

To encourage faith in another,

Paul wrote to Timothy,

Whose faith was passed down from his mother.

What's been passed to you and me?

We've been blessed as recipients,

From those who've gone before.

We've been blessed by encouragements,

From those whom we adore.

The shoe’s now on the other foot,

On us it's put upon,

To share what our faith’s all about,

Let us now pass it on.
